WHY? Devotional July 9 Hell’s Bells πŸ”” P-waves travel through vapor so what SciPop calls the β€œliquid outer core” can actually be open space. Jesus called it a β€œgreat gulf” in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Bible Reading: Psalms 147-150

🎀 Transcript (en) ⏱ 58s

"Well, hey fam, welcome to Y for July the 9th. Hell's bells. And the point here is that when there's an earthquake or a seismic event, it causes the Earth to ring like a bell. Now here's a question for you. How many bells do you know work well when they are full of liquid? So there are two kinds of waves that occur when there's a seismic event, P waves and S waves. S waves are shear waves which travel through the rock material, but P waves are compression waves or sound waves which can travel through solid, liquid or vapor. So there's no physical reason why there can't be a gigantic chamber of open space, or at least a mega chasm or a great gulf in the interior of the Earth."

"In Luke chapter 16, Jesus tells a truly horrifying story about a rich man who dies and goes to hell and a poor beggar who dies and in Abraham's bosom, which is a euphemism for a series of chambers in the lower mantle, part of what is broadly referred to as Sheol, the underworld realm of the dead. Is it possible that something like that could exist in the earth and if so why isn't it that we are taught about it? Well, we're not going to get into this side missions here, but you should be aware of something called the Lehman discontinuity named after a scientist named Inge Lehman, which is a place in the lower mantle at a depth of about 220 kilometers where something happens to the wave signatures and it's obvious that something is changing how they propagate."

"So in Jerusalem, you go and you speak to Israelis on the street, and you document their views on Palestinians, on Arabs, on Muslims, on the occupation. In the space of 20 minutes, you captured how casual, how systemic, how widespread extremism is in Israel. This is well before the protests against the judicial reforms, well before October the 7th. This is nearly a decade ago. People are saying to you things like, Islam is a very bad disease, Jews should have the right to hate them, them being Arabs. I would carpet bomb them, them being Palestinians. Today we hear about, oh well, you know, it's to Netanyahu, it's Ben Gavir, it's Smotrich, as if you changed the government and everything's fine. And I feel like you're someone who went there and saw very clearly things are not fine at a grassroots level. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I saw the writing on the wall. This was this precipitated long before October 7th. This genocidal fervor was palpable. I did feel like I was being teleported to 1932 Berlin. I mean, it really did feel like Nazism in the most just, it was just crazy, Mehdi. I mean, you could take, you know, I usually do Man on the Streets everywhere I go just to kind of get a snapshot on wherever I am. I have never experienced such virulent racism, hatred and bigotry just openly knowing that you're on camera. Usually you like to hide those views away. This was just straight up on camera, like, we should kill Arabs. And I'm just like, what is wrong with you? So at the time, I mean, I was really flabbergasted because I went in there thinking a two state solution is possible. You know, we were told our whole lives that Palestinians are the ones who hate Israelis and they can't live in peace. And really, it felt like reality was flipped on its head and everything that I had been told was a lie. In a sense, it was in a sense, watching those clips now in a sense, they're even worse to watch now, because now when you see Israelis do it, they'll hide behind October the 7th. The trauma of October 7th has made us this hateful. This was 2017. They didn't even have October 7th to hide behind. This was a period of relative calm. They're standing in front of Sephora, I mean, just hanging out. This is like this is all walks of life, secular, religious. I mean, it was really everyone and everyone said the same thing. In fact, one of the guys said, I'm a liberal. And I was like, well, what does that mean? He said it's a slur in Israeli society. Don't call people liberal. He said, I want the occupation to be more humane. And this is what you see. I mean, we think it's bad here in the States that the right, you know, liberals are really right-wing can talk to the rest of the world. Oh, Lord. I mean, and you see, this isn't just anecdotal. This is this is proven time and again in polls. So when people like Bernie Sanders like to paint this and wash away as Netanyahu's crimes, we know that this is widely felt, this sentiment is widely felt and held throughout Israeli society, which really goes back to why boycott divestment sanctions is so necessary."

People don’t buy products. They buy transformations. The key is understanding your super consumer, their problems, and consistently showing up with a message that positions you as the inevitable solution.

🎀 Transcript (en) ⏱ 41s

"When you think about what people want, what's the transformation that you're offering to the person or the people who are buying that is going to allow them to spend the money on what you're selling. Then it becomes a question of who are you selling to? Why should they buy from you? Because you want to become the inevitable solution. Who is your super consumer? What are their problems? Where can we reach your super consumer with a variety of messages? And the answer is basically, you only have so many options. You have advertising, buying advertising space, you can post on social media. You can do the search engine optimization work you can get on podcasts and press and get people to talk about you in different ways. And then there's a series of other actions."

"if I present you with something right out of the gate. Sure. This is from a gunsmith and machinist in Calgary, Alberta, his name is Jay. Matt called you. Yep. You said that he wanted to make a special kettlebell for a special person. Yep. And then what did you think when you found out that it was gonna go to Joe Rogan? Once we found out that it was going to Joe Rogan, and since I listened to some of his podcasts, we wanted to go a little bit above and beyond, and we wanted to make sure that you were putting your best foot forward as far as the gift went. We designed a custom kettlebell base that was in line with Joe Rogan's podcast, which is that pyramid. Yes, you've got here on the bottom, you've got the pyramids that are the pyramid shapes. Yes. The pyramid, the octagon for the UFC in the middle. We laser engraved a Miyamoto Musashi quote in the octagon, the kettlebell, the pull it up Jamie tag on the handle. So you had to machine a kind of a niche so that you could plant his logo, right? Yeah, so we machined the negative space, and then we machined the brass insert that goes into it. So you laser shot that. Yes, you got it. And then you created that so that you could put a piece of leather. Yep, you got it. And then press the leather onto there in order to get this imprint. Exactly. Wow, that's incredible. Yes, this piece of leather was cut on our CO2 laser for the final shake. Wow. And then we just stained it and all that stuff. Face of the JRE logo, same thing. We did the deep engrave, then we did the coating, and then we went back and we brushed and removed. What material is this? This one is aluminum. So we tried, we made a couple renditions, and we tried to see which one looked best. And we found that the brass one just looked the most premium. So that's what we chose. The pyramid base was all machined on our VF2. That's all CNC programmed and then machined out of a massive piece of aluminum stock. Amazing. Yeah. This just comes as a steel plate. And then once it comes to us, we Cerakote it with all the different colors and it's all stenciled to create this logo. It's not silk screened or printed. It's multiple layers of Cerakote to create this image. Once we spray it, you have to do a partial bake, do a stencil, spray another layer, partial bake. So that plate had about seven different layers on it just to achieve that aesthetic. This is a handcrafted process, one by one by one. Absolutely. What's the final step then? You put it all together. Yeah, we assemble it all together and then we have to arrange, pick up with your team. There's a young lady. How did she manage to get it on the plane? I was wondering."

🎀 Transcript (en) ⏱ 65s

"What are you hearing on on a timeline here for LeBron to make his decision. There's no exact timeline yet but we are inching closer to a LeBron James decision. All the information that he could want is in because all the teams have made their pitches. General managers owners presidents of teams have made their contact. They've continued to be in touch with Agent Rich Paul this week. Players have reached out to LeBron James recruiting him. And yes the voice notes have all been listened to. The rosters are set. Decks are all laid out. The leaders here are Cleveland Miami Philadelphia Golden State and Minnesota. And what we know is LeBron James has made it clear privately. He wants to be in a situation where he can compete for a championship but also join a culture a team environment that he feels like he can uplift. And the fact that money is not the driving factor here means that he is able to take his time because we have offers that we know from with LeBron James that range from minimums to exceptions to salary space. So we'll see when he's ready to make his decision."

Counting layers: Can ice cores and tree rings really date the earth?

🎀 Transcript (en) ⏱ 54s

"Is it true that you can count ice core layers and tree rings in order to get the age? Well, there's an assumption straight away that has to be made and that is that each ice core layer and each tree ring represents one year. But the reality is, and by observation, we know that that is not the case. Ice core layers can be laid down simply by a storm, a snowstorm, that'll deposit a layer. And if you had particularly violent storms immediately after the global flood of Noah, which would be most likely to have happened, there would have been many layers of ice laid down in a very short space of time. Tree rings are just differential growth rates of the tree. And you can have multiple periods of differential growth in any one year. There is, of course, annual effects, but it's possible to have up to four and five and more tree rings in one year."
